WATER POLLUTION












Water pollution means one or more substances have built up in water to such and extent that they cause problems for animals or people. Oceans, lakes, rivers and other inland waters can naturally clean up a certain amount of pollution by dispersing in hamerssly.The water pollution could affect the health of all the plants, animals,and humans whose lives depend on the river.
Last day we study the germination of seeds in polluting agents.



The material is: x3 erlenmeyer or bottles, distilled water, petri sheet, paper, scissors, permanent marker,100 ml test-tube, lentils or soya seeds, one pipette and one pipum, polluting solution(Na OH, Nh3, Na Cl)one for each group



The procedure:



Take 10 ml of the polluting solution and put them in a test-tube. Fill it with distilled water up to 100 ml.Pour this solution into a new erlenmeyer(bottle) labeled "poluting 0.1".Take 10ml of the "poluting 0.1" solution and put them in a 100 ml test-tube.



Fill the test-tube with distilled water up to 100ml.Pour this solution into a new erlenmeyer(bottle) labeled "poluting 0.01".



How to prepare culture sheet:We take four petri sheets and we put paper in each one. After this we put 10 soya seeds in each petri sheet and we throw the polluting 1M (Nh3, NaOh, Na Cl), in other we throw the 0.1, in other the 0.01, and in the last petri sheet we throw distilled water.We want to wait for a week and in this moment we know what are the result.

RECICLE OIL TO MAKE SOAP

Procedure

First step
--->Put 25 ml of recicled oil in one erlenmeyer(erlenmeyer nº 1)
Second step
--->Add 10 ml of distilled water in the erlenmeyer(erlenmeyer nº 1) and mix the oil whith the water
Third step
--->Weigh 4,5 g of "Na OH" (hydroxide sodium) and put it in a new erlenmeyer(erlenmeyer 2)
Fourth step
--->Take 15 ml of distilled water and put it in the erlenmeyer(erlenmeyer 2)
Fifth step
--->Mix the erlenmeyer 1 and the erlenmeyer 2
Sixth step
--->Put the mix of the two erlrenmeyers in a glass or in a container with the shape that you want and wait for 3-5 days
Seventh step
--->Take the soap and wash your hands!!!!

MICRO-CLIMATE OF THE CITY




WORKSHEET 6

The last day we mesure the temperature with a termometre and the wind-speed with an anemometre.


We go to the roof of the school and mesure the weather.


After that we go to the street: in front of Casp school, and mesure the weather.


The results:









The temperature in the air is minor that in the temperature in the floor. The wind speed is minor in the street in front of school that in the roof of the school. Because the floor absorbe the rays of the sun.

My Ecological Footprint

WORKSHEET 9

The last day we draw "My footprint" that is the space of the earth that we ocupate.

Today we calculate our ecological footprint in a web: www.stanleyparkecology.ca/programs/activities/howbigft.php


This were the results.


Marc's ecological footprint is:395000000 cm 2.

Footprint wide: 7'5 cm


Footprint large: 23 cm


When we multiply the wide by the large the result of the area is 172'5 cm2.


Things than Marc do to reduce his ecological footprint:

- Recicle

- Evitate use plastics

- Turn off the light

- Don't use the car if you can go to a place not far.

- Swich off the light when you aren't in there room

- Don't trow papers to the street

- Make a shower, don't take a bath because you consume more water than a shower


Laia's ecological footprint is: 435000000 cm 2.
Footprint wide:8

Footprint large:24

When we multiply the wide by the large the result of the area is 192 cm2.


These are the things that Laia make to reduce his ecological footprint:

- Swich off the light when i'm not in that room

- Use the water in the bathroom only when it's necessary

- Go to school walking

- Correctly separation of rubbish

- Participate in clean river campaigns

- Build only if is necessary

- Don't print all the pages that I need when I'm working with the computer

- Plant three trees at the year

Mobility and ways of transport (Part 2)

WORKSHEET 4


  1. We count the number of vehicles and pedestrians passing for Casp street, Pau Claris street, and Gran Via street.
  2. You will place yourself in the street sidewalk and count the following for ten minutes (street lights time included):
  3. 1. One student of the group will count the amount of cars, taxis and motorbikes that are passing along the street .

2. The other one will count how many buses and taxis are running, in the same ten minutes.

3. We write down the results in the chart at the end of the worksheet.

Afterwards, you will do the same experiment but now calculating the number of pedestrians and bicycles.

·What kind of ways do we find in around our city?

A simple street like casp or a big and long via like Gran Via or a street only for pedestrians.

·Write a short conclusion with the results you've got:

In Gran Via cross more cars than Casp and Pau Claris.

Mobility and ways of transport

Worksheet 4

In this activity we have to mesure the diferent tipes of street around the school.

1.We mesure the lenght of our footsteps.
2.We count the number of steps required to cross the street.
3.Now we calculate this: number of steps · lenght = width
4.We do the same in 1 and now we count the number of steps required to cross the sidewalks.

We put first our results and second the average in a chart:Now we have conclusions later this activity:
- Gran Via is more large than Casp or Pau Claris because is more transited than the other streets.
- Pau Claris have little sidewalks because have a lot of transit.

The tourism in Barcelona City

In Barcelona we have a lot of tourism.

One of the places with more tourism is "Sagrada Familia".

"Sagrada Familia" was begin to create by Antoni Gaudí. Even is in construction because is a big an important building and the pieces are not normal, the pieces have a lot of diferent forms.



Another place with tourism is "Parc Güell".
"Parc Güell" was too created by Gaudí.
In this park all the buildings and another things builded by Gaudi are with rounded lines, not with straight lines.

Of course in Barcelona we have more places with tourism but this other sites you have to discover it.

The capital of Catalonia is Barcelona.The number of habitans of Barcelona is 1.605.602.The most importants monuments of Barcelona are:

-Catedral

-Sagrada Familia

-Tibidabo

-Parc Güell

The most important rivers of Barcelona are Llobregat in South, and Besós in North-East.

The climate of Barcelona is regular not as Siberia or contries near it.

A HOUSE IN A RURAL LANDSCAPE

This is a rural landscape. Here you can see a house on the water.
This is very different than the previous photo. This house you never see in a natural landscape. Neither this going to be an urban landscape because we don’t see contamination an no more cars, motorbikes and we can’t heard very noise.

A WATERFALL IN A NATURAL LANDSCAPE

It’s a waterfall in the rainforest. This is a natural landscape.
We see a lot of plants around the waterfall.
This plants and this waterfall we never see in an urban or rural landscape.
Here we can’t see the footprint of human persons, cars, motorbikes…
This is a landscape with no noise so this is a peaceful and there is no contamination.
